Washington, D.C.
It is estimated that upwards of one third of all voters who participate in the November 4 elections will cast their ballot before Election Day. This trend has been growing in recent years, as more and more working people are either unable to visit the polls on election day, or cannot wait in line for extended periods. Making it more complicated is the fact that the rules for early or absentee voting vary from state to state.
The League of Women Voters has produced a detailed state-by-state web page containing virtually everything voters will need to know about early voting -- and everything else related to the coming election. Please visit their Vote411 page.
The current financial crisis and the enormous cost to workers and taxpayers is another reason why a change in course is urgently needed on Election Day. Maximum participation by working people who understand this basic fact will be required if this is to be accomplished, however. Early voting by union members will be a key part of the means by which John McCain is stopped from winning the White House, and therefore subjecting our country to another 4 years of the disastrous policies that we have all experienced under the Bush-Cheney regime.
