UE Local 155 members who work for M Chasen and Son made it clear that they were willing to walk off the job if they didn’t secure significant raises — and instead they walked away from the bargaining table with a $1/hour raise.
The new one-year contract also gives workers the option of foregoing the raise in exchange for company-paid health insurance, with the employer paying 50 percent of the premium. Prior to this contract, the members did not have access to company-paid insurance.
The contract was bargained by steward Jerome Williams, with the assistance of International Representative Tara McCauley.
