UE is militant, member-run union that stands for worker unity, international solidarity and the political independence of the working class. The first union chartered by the CIO in 1936, UE has expanded from the electrical industry to represent workers in a variety of economic sectors.

UE staff work at the direction of the elected leadership to carry out the programs and policies decided upon by our members.

Field Organizer/Union Representative

UE seeks a union representative to join our national staff for an assignment coordinating the work of building and maintaining worker power in the railcrew transportation industry. The position involves bargaining, local union leadership development, internal organizing, and grievance handling for bargaining units in this sector. The organizer will be required to live near a UE base area (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, Colorado or California.)
