Action Conference
At this crucial time in US history, UE will be in Washington this fall for three days of education and action on the issues that affect the lives of working people every day. UE locals and independent unions are encouraged to take part. It is worth every minute of your time.
STOP THE GRIDLOCK!
Our Political Action Conference will tell members of Congress that working people are fed up with political gridlock. We will demand:
- a massive jobs program
- immediate improvements to the just-passed health reform legislation
- restoring the right to organize

Please contact your Regional President as soon as possible to ensure that you are registered. Unlike UE Conventions, the national union makes your hotel accommodations for you, so please do not call the hotel directly!
- Room Rates:
- Single Occupancy: $234.04 per person/per night; $702.12 for 3 nights;
- Double Occupancy: $128.17 per person/per night; $384.51 for 3 nights;
- Triple Occupancy: $85.45 per person/per night; $256.35 for 3 nights
- All rooms are large suites, comfortable for as many as three people. The hotel rate includes a full hot breakfast each morning and free happy hour each afternoon. Rooms are available Saturday night, if you are arriving early.

A LITTLE HOMEWORK
Make sure you give us the name of your U.S. Representative when making your reservations. As part of the event, the UE Washington Office will arrange an appointment with the office of your lawmakers, and we need this information to do this.

GETTING TO/FROM WASHINGTON
The Embassy Suites Hotel in Alexandria is across the street from the King Street Metro Station, Yellow or Blue Line.
- Washington(Reagan) National Airport is very close to the hotel and may be reached by a short Metro ride.
- Dulles Airport is about 45 miles west of Washington, and the hotel may be reached via a shuttle to the Metro and then by Metro to the hotel.
- BWI Airport is about 50 miles north of the hotel, and involves a ride on Amtrak from the airport to the Metro, and then by Metro to the hotel.
At minimum, plan on an additional 90 minutes travel time if you are coming to either Dulles or BWI.
