Replace NAFTA National Day of Action
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) helped corporations outsource one million good jobs from the U.S.
The terms of this massive corporate power grab are now being renegotiated, with talks happening right now in Washington, D.C.
This could finally be our chance to replace NAFTA and end its damage — but the negotiations are happening behind closed doors with 500 corporate advisors granted special access and the public locked out.
Since NAFTA, Mexico’s already low wages are down 9 percent and U.S. wages are flat. Unless we rewrite NAFTA to raise wages and living standards, especially in Mexico, corporations will continue to outsource our jobs.
On Wednesday, December 13, UE will be joining a coalition of trade unions and fair trade organizations for a nation-wide call-in day telling Congress to replace NAFTA with a worker- and community-friendly agreement

Hi this is (YOUR NAME) from UE Local _____ in (YOUR CITY/TOWN). I’m calling to ask the (REPRESENTATIVE OR SENATOR) to please demand that NAFTA’s renegotiation put people ahead of corporations by eliminating NAFTA’s job outsourcing incentives and adding labor provisions that raise wages for all workers, especially Mexican workers whose pay is a fraction of U.S. workers’ pay, creating an incentive for corporations to outsource work to Mexico. A vote should not be held until these essential standards are met.
