The UE-GE Conference Board, composed of delegates from UE locals in GE, met Monday afternoon in New York to review details of the tentative settlement agreement between the company and the union. They studied a written summary of the agreement, heard International Rep. Gene Elk present the agreement, and asked questions.
The Conference Board decided to meet again early Tuesday morning to vote on the tentative agreement. Their decision will be a recommendation to the membership of the UE locals in GE to accept or reject the agreement.
The meeting was chaired by Local 506 President Scott Slawson and included 14 delegates from Locals 506, 332, 618 and 601. Two leaders of IFPTE Local 138, the drafter's union at Erie GE, sat in as observers. UE General President Bruce Klipple, Director of Organization Bob Kingsley, and Northeast Region President Peter Knowlton also attended the meeting.
A detailed summary of the tentative agreement will be distributed to members of UE-GE locals later this week and will be posted on this site at that time.
